The unique feature with the Amat-cut is the built-in baby carrier located on the back. It is a functional design that gives the woman the opportunity to both look after the child and work, all at the same time.

Furthermore the Amat-cut has a remarkably slim front section, which makes the arms come out on the front. This design leads to less freedom of movement for the woman, which makes work virtually impossible. This is only an option for women with the most talented hunters and biggest wealth, therefore it is a symbol of great prestige.

The arched tips on the front and back has more than one function:
First of all they work as a protection against the cold weather for the kidneys when the woman bends over in working positions. Secondly they protect the unborn child she may carry. The two tips can be tied together between the legs to protect against extreme temperatures.
The beautiful shape of the arched tips is a favored area for decoration on the suit. Further more they enhance the shape of the hips and the legs seem longer.

The decorations on the suit, besides them being devices of beauty and vanity, is a symbol of status, because they are extremely time consuming. It is only the luckiest women, with the most talented hunters that has the time to craft these ornaments.
